Chicken Pox

It all started Sunday morning when I was getting Jaxon dressed for church. I noticed what looked like a zit on his chest. I wondered what it was but decided to watch it. I am a teacher in the nursery but I didn't have to teach because our ward had arranged for the adults to watch the worldwide broadcast, they even found substitutes for us. Jaxon was fussy so I kept him with me. On Monday I noticed he had two more marks in the same area. I thought about chicken pox but I knew he had been vaccinated and I figured I could ask, knowing he had his two year old check up scheduled for today. So sure enough he wakes up with four more this morning. Well, I took him to the doctor and sure enough he has chicken pox ( along with cutting his last eye tooth and two molars). I am thankful it is a minor case so far and that I didn't expose the whole nursery. The only child I may have exposed is baby Eliza (sorry Paula!). Well, because he has chicken pox, I had the fun task of taking my older three kids to get a second chicken pox shot. The doctor said they are now recommending two shots, the second between the ages of four and five. I did learn from a flu shot debacle to not tell the kids beforehand. I did tell Devin but was grateful I didn't tell the girls from the tantrums they threw in the doctor's office. I had to hold both girls down while they screamed at the top of their lungs. Oh, the joys of motherhood! He should only be contagious for two or three more days, thank heavens!

On a side note, I have noticed I have only been blogging the catastrophes at our house and I promise more upbeat blogs to come!

Who knew he could get Chicken Pox? It never would have even crossed my mind.
